Hipsters ride fixed-gear bikes. Emo people spend too much time cutting themselves to care about bikes.

I found your story by typing "emo bicycle" into Google.

I've read that Hipsters all ride fixed-gear bicycles nowadays, and I was curious as to what sort of bicycles Emos ride, assuming they ride bicycles at all. I like to imagine that they ride old banana-seat bicycles with high-rise handlebars, but so far I haven't found any evidence to back that up.

I live in a very remote village, so as you can probably imagine all my knowledge of the outside world comes from the internet. In any case, your life sounds fascinating.

I guess I saw the people who enjoyed the cameras then because the people I saw were posing. They were far from shy.

Well first - most of them are not in "costume" - that is the fashion that they wear. The only ones in costume are the ones cosplaying a band member or anime character.

Harajuku started out as a place to friends to meet and get away from Japan's opressive society and they could identify each other through their fashion interests.

Most of the "harajuku" kids that I've talked to are just annoyed with all the tourists and cameras and wish everyone would leave them alone.

Well I shore am glad my son is getting a good education in San Francisco. I'm not sure this is what you were planning on learning about - but at least you didn't run away screaming . . . this time. Next time you might. I'll even suggest that next time you DO run away screaming!
