Regarding Brazil
In planning my trip to Brazil, I’ve spoken with a lot of people about what to expect. It doesn’t matter where the person is from they will tell me the same few tidbits of information. I’ve talked to many, many people overall. I’ve spoken with people straight from Brazil and the folks who rarely leave America. Everyone agrees on these 3 things. First, Brazil is beautiful. Without fail, they will regal me about how beautiful the beaches and landcape is. Second, They never neglect to mention the friendly and inviting culture. Finally, and this one is always last, expect get robbed at some point. People say these things as easily as speaking their names. It’s common knowledge that getting shanked or shot in Brazil is an every day occurance. No matter how much they emphasize the beauty of the land or the people, they always follow it up about how I should always be on my toes. Frankly, it has me scared shitless.
It might not be such a big deal if people didn’t try so hard to talk up the postives about Brazil. In fact, it’s almost a bit overboard. It reminds me of those people who love to talk about how they have a Jewish best friend. I can’t help but be a little suspicious.
